The house edge is essentially the counterpart to the Return to Player (RTP). It shows the percentage of all money bet that the casino expects to retain over the long term.
House Edge = 100% - Return to Player (RTP)
If a game has an RTP of 96%, its house edge is 4%.
This means that for every euro bet, the casino keeps an average of 4 cents in the long run. Correspondingly, players receive an average return of 96 cents for each euro bet.
The house edge does not determine the outcome of an individual gaming session, as every game round is random. For players, the house edge is a useful metric, especially in table games such as blackjack and baccarat. The lower the house edge, the higher the game's theoretical Return to Player percentage over the long term.
In some table games, particularly blackjack, the choices made by the player can influence the house edge. The game's RTP also plays an important role. When multiple versions of the same game are available, at Tuplaa we select the one with the highest available RTP.
